About SBEC
SBEC International School is the first and only, bilingual (English- French) School in The Gambia. Established in 2001, SBEC is run by an Executive Committee. The School provides a bilingual integrated programme of study for pupils aged 8 months – 16 years (Daycare, Foundation, Junior and High Schools), which promotes cultural interaction and integration. We offer a challenging curriculum, which follows the National Curriculum of the British educational system, combined with the requirements of the French educational system. The age span in each class provides a family-like grouping where learning can take place naturally.
We equip children with the tools to master rigorous academic challenges and our international focus helps them tackle broader challenges beyond the textbook. Each of our classes operates on the principle of freedom within limits. Every programme has its own set of ground rules that differ from age to age, but it is always based on the core values of love and respect for each other. They learn the principle of global citizenship and individual integrity as they develop the skills to deal with life experiences.
We create a stimulating environment, where self-esteem, discipline and social responsibility are encouraged, in order to enable our pupils fulfill their academic and human potential. Over the years, SBEC has managed to create an authentic family spirit, a harmonious school life and respect for the diversity of beliefs and customs, which its international uniqueness demands.
The school is situated in a serene environment at Bijilo, adjacent Bijilo lower Basic School, approximately 300 metres off the Senegambia-Bijilo Highway along the Coastal Road
